Origin and customs of Christmas Eve

origin:
On the night Jesus was born, shepherds who were watching their sheep in the wilderness suddenly heard a voice from heaven telling them the news of Jesus' birth. According to the Bible, Jesus came to the world to save the world and to be the savior of all mankind (see Matthew 1:21, "She will give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."). Therefore, the angels spread the message to more people through these shepherds.
Later, people imitated the angels and spread the news of Jesus' birth everywhere on Christmas Eve. Until today, it has evolved into the activity of announcing the good news.
On Christmas Eve in 1818, Moore, an unknown country priest in a small town called Oberndorf, Austria, discovered that the organ in the church had been damaged by rats and it was too late to repair it.
How to celebrate Christmas? Moore was unhappy about this. He suddenly remembered that the Gospel of Luke recorded that when Jesus was born, the angels announced the good news to the shepherds outside Bethlehem and sang a hymn: "Glory to God in heaven, and peace to my beloved on earth." He had an idea and wrote a hymn based on these two verses and named it "Silent Night."
After Moore wrote the lyrics, he gave them to the town's elementary school teacher, Gruber, and asked him to compose the music. After reading the lyrics, Gruber was deeply moved. He composed the music and sang it in the church the next day, which was very popular. Later, two businessmen passed by here and learned the song. They sang it for King William IV of Prussia. William IV praised it highly and ordered that "Silent Night" be one of the songs that must be sung in churches across the country during Christmas.
Thus, this immortal work has been sung to this day.
Christmas Eve is also considered the time when Santa Claus and similar figures in other areas go around delivering gifts to good children.
In Italy, gifts are opened on the morning of Christmas Eve, while in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Portugal and Poland, Christmas gifts are usually opened on the evening of Christmas Eve or on the morning of Christmas Day.
In most parts of Germany, Christmas presents are opened on Christmas Eve (Bescherung in German). Christmas in Iceland begins at 6pm on Christmas Eve, when the church bells are rung and people enjoy a festive dinner with their families before opening presents and spending the evening together.
In North America, most families open presents on Christmas morning. For divorced families, children may celebrate with either their father or mother on separate days. In Spain, gifts are not opened until the morning of January 6, Epiphany (Día de Reyes). Many traditional Christmas stories take place on Christmas Eve. custom:
1. Christmas Eve is also considered a short day
In the UK, Christmas Eve is sometimes regarded as a short day (close in the afternoon) by banks and trading companies as if it falls on a working day.
