The origin of National Day:

On October 1, 1949, the founding ceremony of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China, also known as the founding ceremony, was held grandly in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
"The first person to propose 'National Day' was Mr. Ma Xulun, then a member of the CPPCC and chief representative of the China Democratic League."
On October 9, 1949, the First National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference held its first meeting. Member Xu Guangping made a speech: "Member Ma Xulun asked for leave and could not come. He asked me to tell him that the founding of the People's Republic of China should have a National Day, so he hoped that this association would decide to designate October 1 as National Day." Member Lin also spoke in secondment, requesting a discussion and decision. The meeting that day passed a proposal "Requesting the government to designate October 1 as the National Day of the People's Republic of China to replace the old National Day of October 10" and sent it to the Central People's Government for adoption and implementation.
On December 2, 1949, the resolution adopted at the fourth meeting of the Central People's Government Council pointed out: "The Central People's Government Council hereby declares: from 1950, October 1 of each year, the great day when the People's Republic of China was proclaimed as the National Day of the People's Republic of China." This is the origin of "October 1" as the "birthday" of the People's Republic of China, that is, the "National Day".
Since 1950, October 1st of each year has become a festival celebrated grandly by people of all ethnic groups in China.

The basis for determining National Day in different countries around the world varies greatly. According to statistics, there are 35 countries in the world that celebrate the year of their founding as their National Day. Countries like Cuba and Cambodia celebrate the day their capitals were occupied as their National Day. Some countries celebrate Independence Day as their National Day. On January 1, 1804, the Haitian people annihilated Napoleon's 60,000 expeditionary forces and declared independence in Port-au-Prince. Since then, January 1 of each year has been designated as National Day. The same is true for countries such as Mexico and Ghana. Some countries also celebrate the anniversary of an armed uprising as their national day. July 14th is France's National Day. On this day in 1789, the people of Paris captured the Bastille, a symbol of feudal rule, and overthrew the monarchy. Some other countries celebrate major conference days as their National Day. The United States celebrates July 4, 1776, the day the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, as Independence Day. Canada celebrates its National Day on July 1, 1867, the day the British Parliament passed the British North America Act.
