The first day is when the whole family gets together, and the next two days are filled with a variety of activities such as wrestling, horse racing, bullfighting, boat racing, tug-of-war, etc., followed by a grand bonfire party and carnival all night long. After nightfall, people waved torches and traveled in groups around villages, over mountains and across fields. They sprinkled rosin powder on each other's torches and had torch fights, illuminating the entire mountain and field like daylight. Sprinkling rosin powder on torches expresses a good wish: when the younger generation sprinkles it on the older generation, it is a sign of respect and a blessing for longevity; when the older generation sprinkles it on the younger generation, it is a sign of caress and a wish for good luck; when peers sprinkle it on each other, it is a sign of intimacy and friendship; when young men and women sprinkle it on each other, it is the beginning of love. During the festival, people play the big sanxian and dance the "Axi Moon Dance", and also hold activities such as wrestling and bullfighting. The Yi people in Chuxiong, Mile and other places also hold traditional "fire sacrifice" ceremonies. On the night of the festival, deep in the mountains where the Yi people live, there are “fire trees and silver flowers” everywhere, and the scene is very spectacular.
