What is consecration? Specific steps for consecrating Feng Shui items

Introduction: For an object, whether it has been consecrated determines whether it has spirituality. There are two types of consecration: formal consecration and fake consecration. A fake consecrated mascot has very little spiritual energy, and can have even less effect on the benefactor. Only after being formally consecrated can it have a better effect on the benefactor and bring more good luck to the benefactor. If you want to know more about Feng Shui, Mr. Shui Mo has prepared a special topic on Feng Shui for you to give you a more comprehensive understanding.

1. What is consecration?

The practice of consecration originated from the most ancient Taoist culture in my country. Taoist consecration refers to a process in which a wizard with a certain level of spiritual power passes on skills through talismans, methods, spells, incantations and symbols with the immortal masters and ancestors on the altar. The power of the immortal master is injected into the magic tools or auspicious objects through the consecration ceremony, thereby giving them a new aura and spiritual power, so as to achieve the effect of curing diseases, exorcising ghosts and evil spirits, and eliminating disasters and solving problems.

There is no concept of consecration in Buddhism, but there is a "Buddhist blessing" ceremony similar to consecration, which has been passed down to the present and is called consecration. Buddhist blessing refers to monks chanting various scriptures, such as the "Great Compassion Mantra", "Heart Sutra", "Medicine Buddha Mantra", etc., which use the power of thought to make various ritual instruments, amulets, Buddha statues, and aids have a certain power, thereby playing a role in blessing, eliminating disasters and diseases, and avoiding misfortune. There are many conditions required for formal consecration, and randomly consecrated mascots are like fake medicines, which not only have no benefits, but sometimes even have counterproductive effects.

2. Why is there no effect from random consecration?

Among the people, some wandering Taoist priests and monks who do not live in temples, although named "laymen", "practicing with hair", "lay disciples", etc., are not suitable for consecration. Because religion has its own particularity, as the saying goes, "Most of the world's famous mountains are occupied by monks" and "A mountain is not high but it is magical if there are immortals there". Therefore, monks live outside the secular aura of the world and are best able to receive the aura of gods. The scriptures and talismans they recite can have very powerful powers.

At the same time, from the perspective of Feng Shui, both rituals and consecrations require the help of statues of gods and the huge and majestic aura of temples. Because the sky above the temple, the temple buildings are the earth, and people are in the temple. Only then can the religious aura of "heaven, earth and man" be gathered, and only then can the gods be communicated with and the most positive, strongest and most yang aura be injected into objects. The lay Buddhists and lay disciples in the folk generally have seven emotions and six desires, joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness. Many people chant sutras at night, drink and eat meat during the day, and hang out in various entertainment venues. How can people with such aura have enough positive energy to consecrate objects, and how can the objects they consecrate have any effect?

3. The normal process of formal consecration

First, let’s talk about the items that are consecrated. The only things that can be consecrated are Buddha statues or objects that can be called auspicious symbols. Not every object can produce its function after being consecrated.

First, the requirements for the master who performs the consecration. It requires highly accomplished professional religious people. Taking Buddhism as an example: only monks who have practiced in the temple for at least 20 years are eligible for such selection. In addition, a series of inspections must be conducted on the person's magical powers, mentality, character, and the scriptures he or she has practiced over a long period of time to determine whether he or she is qualified to complete the consecration ceremony.

Second, the requirements on the time of consecration. Generally, one consecration session lasts 45 minutes. In terms of scriptures, two different kinds of scriptures are usually recited. Only by using two auspicious scriptures that are conducive to mental health can the effect of consecration be achieved. The mascots that have been consecrated carry blessings and have the function of praying for blessings and warding off evil.

4. Steps of consecration:

(1) Preparation for the ritual

Prepare ritual instruments, cinnabar, a writing brush, new towels (white and yellow), a new evil-dispelling mirror (an unused mirror), willow branches, and clean water (dew).

(2) Choose an auspicious day to chant sutras

Based on religious beliefs, an auspicious time is chosen and two kinds of scriptures are prepared. The chanting time is generally 45 minutes.

(3) Remove evil spirits and dust

The Supreme Master holds a white towel (or a yellow towel) in his right hand and wipes around the mascot three times clockwise and three times counterclockwise. Its significance is to wipe away the old information of the mascot's past, just like taking a bath, removing dust and previous messy information, so as to achieve a purification effect and prepare for the next step of injecting yang energy.

(4) Mirror to inject Yang Qi

The master keeps chanting scriptures, using the mirror to reflect light and shine it on the mascot (the mirror can see through the soul, gather yang energy from all directions to suppress evil spirits. While chanting scriptures, it can introduce pure yang energy into the consecrated mascot. There are many descriptions of mirrors in ancient novels. In the four great ancient masterpieces "Dream of Red Mansions" and "Journey to the West", there are many descriptions of mirrors. There are even more descriptions of mirrors in "Investiture of the Gods"); once again, the evil spirits, old information and dust that have not been completely wiped off are cleaned away, giving the mascot yang energy and spiritual energy.

(5) Magic Pen Pointing Sand

This step is the finishing touch and is to protect a certain mascot. It is just like putting a red robe on a mascot, which adds positive energy and makes the negative energy avoid it. In the last step, the master uses a magical pen that has been blessed with magical powers, dips it in cinnabar, and writes the spell in the air with the pen. He kept chanting “Kai Guang,” “Kai Guang,” and “Kai Guang” in his mouth. At this point, the consecration ceremony is completed.
