2017 Spring Festival taboos

2017 Spring Festival taboos

Introduction: The Chinese New Year is coming soon. Have you prepared the New Year's goods? It is a day to reunite with your family and visit relatives and friends. Isn't it particularly pleasant? The Chinese New Year in a broad sense starts with the Little New Year on the 23rd or 24th of the twelfth lunar month. We usually count from New Year's Eve to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first lunar month. Do you know what are the Feng Shui taboos during the Chinese New Year? What issues need attention? This issue’s Feng Shui special topic will tell you! If you want to know more about Feng Shui, Mr. Shui Mo has prepared a special topic on Feng Shui for you to give you a more comprehensive understanding.

1. Do not disturb other families who are having their New Year’s Eve dinner on New Year’s Eve. Those who have not returned home can gather together to have the dinner.

2. No haircuts are allowed during the Chinese New Year, and washing hair is not an option. Some places also require people not to take a bath on the first day of the first lunar month.

3. Don’t sweep the floor on the first day of the first lunar month. Sweeping the floor means sweeping your wealth out.

4. Don’t ask for debts during the Chinese New Year. Even if you go to collect on New Year’s Eve, don’t go to collect on the first day of the first lunar month, otherwise you will easily be chased away by someone in anger.

5. Don’t wear torn clothes during the Chinese New Year. Wearing torn clothes during the New Year means that the God of Poverty will be with you for the whole year. It is recommended to wear new clothes during the New Year and wear festive colors.

6. People should not be urged to get up on the first day of the first lunar month. Of course, it is not suitable to sleep in. Some places require that people cannot take a nap on the first day of the first lunar month. There is a folk custom that says it is unlucky to be urged to get up on the first day of the first lunar month.

7. Speak more auspicious words and avoid using dirty or abusive words. During such a festive occasion, it is extremely inappropriate to swear or curse at outsiders, children or family members.

8. Not washing clothes on the first day of the first lunar month is related to respecting the water god.

9. Don’t borrow anything on the first day of the first lunar month.

10. Do not kill any living creatures on the first day of the first lunar month. If you want to eat anything fresh, you have to kill it in advance.

11. Don’t do farm work or work on construction sites on the first and second days of the first lunar month, otherwise you will be busy in the coming year.

12. Married women usually return to their own home to celebrate the New Year, and will return to their parents’ home after the second day of the first lunar month.

13. If there is a funeral, the death will not be announced on the first or second day of New Year’s Eve, and the funeral ceremony will have to be held after the fifth day. Spring Festival couplets should be written on white paper to avoid being bumped into.

Summary: The Spring Festival is a festive and joyful day. We cannot let some small things ruin our atmosphere and joy. Therefore, we need to pay attention to some Feng Shui taboos during the Spring Festival. I hope everyone can avoid them as much as possible. I wish you good luck in the new year!
