What is the Feng Shui effect of willow trees? Can willow trees ward off evil spirits?

Introduction: Because of its beautiful appearance, the willow tree is given many meanings and is a favorite plant of many literati and poets. Little do people know that willow trees also have Feng Shui meaning. What is the Feng Shui effect of willow trees? Let’s find out together. Feng Shui terminology is important knowledge in Feng Shui. Let’s take a look at it below.

Willow is a general term for plants of the genus Salix, including Salix matsudana, Salix glandularis, and Salix babylonica. Salix species are mostly shrubs, rarely trees, with no terminal buds, sympodial branches, a small number of stamens, and insect-pollinated flowers, characteristics that indicate they are more evolved than Populus and Salix.

There are about 520 species of this genus in the world, mainly produced in the temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere, followed by the frigid zones, very rare in the tropics and the Southern Hemisphere, and no wild species in Oceania. There are 257 species, 122 variants and 33 types in my country. It is produced in all provinces and regions.

Where to plant willow trees

1. From the perspective of Feng Shui: willow trees are feminine trees. A house facing south corresponds to the five elements: the center of the house is earth, the front Suzaku (south) is yang fire (neutralized by a pool of water), the back Xuanwu (north) is yin water (stabilized by rocks), the left Qinglong (east) is wood (nourished by mountains and streams), and the right Baihu (west) is gold (alive by roads). Therefore, it is best to plant willows in the front yard to harmonize yin and yang, but planting them in the back yard will add yin to yin and it will be evil.

So there is a saying: If you plant a poplar tree at the front door, your wealth will not last long; if you plant a willow tree at the back door, your wealth will not last long. The older generation said: Plant willows in front of the house and mulberry trees behind the house. This is a symbol of a Feng Shui treasure land.

As for the willow tree in the backyard, it gathers negative energy, which can easily turn it into a monster and attract peach blossoms.

2. Scientifically speaking: Willows are cold-resistant, waterlogged-resistant, and drought-resistant. They prefer wetlands, warm to high temperatures, and require sufficient sunshine. It can absorb urban wastewater, garbage leachate, industrial wastewater (such as wastewater after spraying logs in timber mills), sewage sludge and sawdust, etc., mainly through plant absorption to reduce pollutants and excess nutrients in water and soil.

Therefore, it grows best when planted in the east or south. Although trees grow better if planted near sewers or pollutants, psychologically the trees will absorb the "poison" and their "nature" will change.

The legend of willow

It is said that willow trees can ward off evil spirits, so people insert willow branches into their doors to ward off evil spirits. During the Qingming Festival, China has a traditional custom of planting willow trees to ward off evil spirits. It is said that ghosts are afraid of willow trees. The origin of this story is that there were two gods who caught ghosts (Shentu and Yulei). After catching the ghosts that were harming the human world, they tied them up with willow branches and fed them to tigers.

The homonym of "Liu" is "liu", which means to keep. Planting it in front of the door is to keep the sick family members from following the ghost of death. It also means to keep wealth and not let it slip away.
