Therefore, He Jian, the governor of Hunan Province, appointed his trusted adjutant Xiong Daogan to lead a company of troops to Xiangtan to dig up Mao's ancestral tomb. However, under the protection of local people, He Jian's army dug up not the Mao family's ancestral tomb, but the ancestral tomb of the local landlord Mao Junxian. Therefore, the Mao family's ancestral tomb was not destroyed. Mao also once told an American reporter: "When I was a child, I heard that my great-grandfather's grave had good feng shui." In Mao’s hometown of Xiangtan, there are two feng shui stories about Mao’s grandfather’s tomb. One story says that Mao's grandfather Mao Yichen and his elder brother Mao Dechen both had their eyes on a piece of cemetery in Huxieping and could not agree on it, so they reached an agreement that "the one who dies first will be buried, and the one who dies later will give it up." Mao Dechen was secretly happy because he was five years older than Mao Yichen. However, he did not expect that Mao Yichen would die first, so he asked someone to choose an auspicious day for his burial. The Feng Shui master actually chose a day in the summer eight years later, and the Mao family had no choice but to place the coffin on the Huxieping tomb base. Since the soil at the tomb base cannot be dug, it has to be covered with straw or something like that. Eight years later, Mao's descendants uncovered the coffin and found it was shiny and intact. They dug a hole and found that only the hole was covered with mud, and there were stones all around. Everyone knew that this was a good hole. |
